Rosie's Reading Room is a small, quaint space nestled in the NYC District #23, dedicated to educational research. We provide a range of remediation services for young and older, poor readers to get the prerequisite skills necessary for reading. Our current research involves Developing an appropriate RTI (Route to Intervention) model, where children cycle through Tier 1 through Tier 3 interventions based on achievement scores. We work with learners that attend schools in Brownsville, located in Brooklyn, NY.
Teaching of phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency as steps to meet the ultimate goal of comprehension.
All emerging readers are evaluated with a screening assessment. This diagnostic will assess skills in phonemic awareness, decoding & phonics, word recognition, fluency, and comprehension.

Ms. Terry Clifton, is our lead teacher and primary MWBE educational research scientist . A trained Urban Science Educator with a life-long academic career rooted in NYC Public Schools. She began her education in District #23 as follows: Headstart @ Van Dyke Houses Day Care Center (District 23); Elementary Schools @ All Saints Elementary School (grades 1,4, 5, and 6), P.S. 327 (grade 3,/District #23), Risen Christ Lutheran School (2nd grade/District #23); Middle School @ J.H.S 275, Thelma J. Hamilton (grades 7, 8/District #23); High School @ Brooklyn Technical (grades 9-12/District #19); Post-Secondary @ New York College of Technology (A.S. in Chemistry), CUNY Baccalaureate Program/Medgar Evers (B.S. in Urban Science Education/Biology), Pace University (M.S. in Adolescent Education, Biology 7-12).
